Before Christmas, the students living in Southern鈥檚 Talge Hall men鈥檚 residence participated in the dorm鈥檚 21st annual personal care drive. Resident assistants rallied the students on their halls, who contributed cash to be donated to the Samaritan Center鈥攁 Seventh-day Adventist organization that helps local residents in need.

鈥淥ur goal is to gather items or funds that can support our neighbors in need with personal care and household cleaning items,鈥� said Eddie Schwisow, communication director at the Samaritan Center.

The personal care drive was started in 1997 by Dwight Magers, dean of men in Talge Hall. Over the years, donations have been used to purchase toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and other personal items, but the scope of the project has grown.

鈥淪ome years the money is used to help a specific family in need. Other times it is used to add food to the Samaritan Center pantry,鈥� explained Lisa Patterson, office manager of Talge Hall. 鈥淭his year it will more than likely be used to help stock their toy room.鈥� 
This year, Talge Hall raised $1,364, which will be matched by an anonymous Samaritan Center donor, bringing the total to $2,728.

鈥淲e have learned to count on the faithful support of 91桃色视频students, staff, and faculty,鈥� said Schwisow. 鈥淎lthough, we don't necessarily set expectations for our partnerships, time and time again our friends at 91桃色视频have exhibited their kindness and generosity. We are indebted to them for their spirit of sacrifice.鈥�
